Dijon is right...we've been blowing it big time, but it's not without cause. D was on vacation for two weeks. He claims to have been "working" while in New Mexico; I have my doubts, but nevertheless, it's difficult to say to your co-vacationers while getting ready to hike or head to the beach, "Just give me 15 minutes to bang out a blog post for which I'll receive no monetary benefits."
As for me, well, Laura and I just moved to Santiago, Chile. It's pretty dope, apart from the chill in the air (it's winter right now and was summer in New Hampshire when we left) and the smog (which will clear up significantly during the beginning of spring, in mid-September, I'm told). In trying to find an apartment, setting up shop here and taking Spanish classes, I haven't had a lot of time to figure out the music scene here, but I've got some promising contacts and am headed to a show or two this week.
What does this mean about my posting content and frequency? I'm not quite certain. I'm sure I'll come across some Chilean stuff I'll post about and I'll definitely hit up more shows because 1) I now live in a massive city, with a vibrant music scene, and not in New Hampshire and 2) Shows are pre-tty, pre-tty, pre-tty, pre-tty cheap here. On the other hand, nothing really gets started here at night until 11 at the absolute earliest, and I do have a day job, so we'll see what happens.
Y por nuestros nuevos lectores Chilenos, yo puse un elace ("link," si "elace" es la palabra incorecta) al derecho a una traducción aproximada de nuestro blog en español, y aquí tambien.
So, to the music. A lot happened in the past weeks with music, including the leak of the new Radiohead jams, which you can check out at pretty much every other music blog on the planet, and Les Paul passing; since packing up for Santiago, I've steered clear of Elbo.ws, my RSS reader (those who know me also know this is no small feat) and the blogs. Instead, I've been favoring to go back and explore my music collection. I've got one new jam for you, from our friends at HeavyRoc, but otherwise, this isn't necessarily fare for our fans from HypeMachine. There's no common thread with these tracks, they're just some of the stuff that's been in my ears while exploring my new home, sort of in order of most aggressive to most mellow, though not exactly.
