Summer is the time for music that fits squarely into the "jam" category. I've been enjoying my fair share of fruit preserves this summer. Here's a few favorites:
•Your Twenties is a new band hailing from Devon, England. As a former Devonshirite, or something, I'm inclined to enjoy this band's fun, upbeat pop. My inclination isn't necessary, Your Twenties is a great listen. The band started out as a side project for Metronomy bassist Gabriel Stebbing. He has since left Metronomy to work on Your Twenties full time after terrific, if limited, success with last summer's "Caught Wheel" and Neon Gold's release of the "Billionaires" 7". Can't wait for an LP from these guys.

•E-603 is a mash-up artist who's a bit of a mystery. I've heard he's from New Hampshire (hence the 603, what?!?), but I can neither confirm nor deny this. I can't help but be reminded of Girl Talk by the music; E-603's penchant for riding his beats a bit makes for a passable replacement if your local DJ isn't available. Thanks to the nature of mash-up culture and copyright laws in this country, E-603's two albums, Something For Everyone and his latest, Torn Up, are available for download for $free.99. (Aside, my favorite moment on Torn Up is the M.O.P./Vanessa Carlton beat)

•Everybody knows Discovery's story at this point...Ra Ra Riot/Vampire Weekend side project...yada, yada, yada. My only insight, this track "Orange Line" reminds me a WHOLE lot of "New to the Scene" by an unknown friend of mine, Big Baby, who I'll be writing about in the near future. See if you can find it.

•Jaydiohead is a dope project we wrote about in January, brought to us by Max Tannone aka Minty Fresh Beats. Max has come back with a five song Jaydiohead EP Encore. The mixes are just as clean and it's really a delight to listen to. All of Max's Jaydiohead work is great driving music. Go get Encore here, also for free.

•I can't front, this Atlas Sound track is a blatant re-post from our friends over at Gorilla vs. Bear. Chances are, if you're into our blog, you probably check GvB as well, but I had to put this track up. It's been my jam for the last few days...after listening, I can't help but be in a relaxed, fun-loving headspace.

Great to see the E-603 mention. I've enjoyed listening to him and Easter Egg as the more enjoyable alternatives to Girl Talk.
Also, loved the Jaydiohead.
Thanks for the comment, dudeman. I really enjoy E-603...he knows when to ride his beats out and isn't always eager to change things up. As much as I'll always dig Girl Talk's stuff, particularly Night Ripper, there's certainly something to be said for a similar project made without as much hyperactivity.
