[New Artist] The Electric Brigade

I wouldn't be surprised if a few people got tricked by The Electric Brigade. You would half expect them to be the newest member of Dim Mak with that name (thank god they are not), when in fact they would be much more at home on the next Underwater Peoples Records showcase alongside beachy, low-fi brethren like Real Estate, Julian Lynch and others. EB are two kids from Saint Petersburg, Fl and show a lot of promise for a young band with only a few completed songs under their belt.

I've been listening to their track "This Isn't a Good Night for Walking" non-stop for the past couple of days. The first 30 seconds could almost be mistaken for a fuzzier version of Grizzly Bear's "All We Ask" until it cracks open into hazy, sun-soaked reverie about summer storms. Its always a let down when a perfectly good summer night is ruined by rain, but there are those few storms, when the humidity breaks and you can smell the wet pavement, that you could not be happier to be stuck right where you are.

Julien, one half of the Brigade, also has some cool tracks up on myspace that he produced and played entirely by himself in his parents attic under the moniker, Amos Green.
